Is accommodation provided?
Yes. Accommodation is provided through Whistler Blackcomb for the duration of the camp. If you're applying to work with Whistler Bike Park through this program, you’ll have the option to extend your accommodation for the remainder of the season if hired.
Do I need to take a job with Whistler Bike Park, or can I just do the camp for personal reasons?
You can absolutely join the camp for personal development — whether you want to improve your riding or pursue coaching elsewhere. While some participants choose to apply for positions at Whistler Bike Park, this is not a requirement. Many riders attend simply to elevate their skills, gain a professional coaching qualification, and continue their mountain biking journey at other parks, camps, or just for fun.
Do I need a working visa for the MTB Coach Training camps if I don’t plan to work in Canada afterwards?
No. If you’re not seeking employment after the camp, you only need a regular Tourist Visa for the duration of your stay in Canada — just as you would for a holiday.
What working visa do I need if I want to apply for a job in Canada after the camp?
You’ll need an International Experience Canada (IEC) Working Holiday Visa. Apply for this visa before arriving in Canada.

Employment typically begins in the last week of June. There may be a short gap between the end of the camp and your start date.
If I’m offered a job, how much work can I expect in my first season?
First-season instructors can expect part-time work, with hours increasing to full-time during the busy July and August period. Plan for an average of 20 hours per week at approximately $20/hour.
What level of rider do I need to be for the camp?
Most participants are strong-intermediate to advanced riders. You should be comfortable getting your wheels off the ground (front/rear wheel lifts, drop-offs, roll downs) and ideally small to medium tabletops. There’s plenty of time to improve during the camp if you’re still working up to jumps.
What bike is best for the MTB Coach Camp?
Because the camp takes place in the Whistler Bike Park, a downhill bike is ideal for its durability and handling.
An enduro bike with at least 6" of suspension front and rear, heavy-duty tires, and a slack geometry (~66° head angle) is also a solid choice.
What preparation should I do before the camp?
Ride often, stay fit, eat well, and rest! Try to gain teaching or leadership experience — such as leading rides, hikes, or other sports — to build your communication skills.
For riding skills, work on drop-offs, small tabletop jumps, and technical descents, progressing step-by-step as you gain confidence.
Are there any testimonials I can check out?
Definitely! Check out Sam’s, Rory’s, and Jo’s testimonials from past programs. Check them out here!
